Our Culture

Caribbean Custom Works is a family owned and operated business that was founded in 1999 by its acting President, Javier Moreno. After being in the same location for nearly 20 years we’ve recently moved into a larger and better equipped shop located in central Pinellas County.

We make every effort to make each project pain-free and on-time. Our customers have come to expect a high level of detail from us and we take great pride in delivering just that.

Caribbean Custom Works Didn’t Just Happen Overnight

Javier’s early experiences woodworking with his grandfather in Cuba inspired him to want to someday open a shop of his own. When he immigrated to the Tampa Bay Area in 1984 he went straight to work building a new life for his family. He quickly rose through the ranks of the local cabinetry scene. Eventually, he went on to manage some of the best shops during the late 80s and early 90s.

Javier was determined to open his own shop. He began working day and night honing his skills and building up Caribbean Custom Works. After a few short years, he was able to concentrate all his efforts full-time on our growing business. Slowly, we’ve built up our clientele and a reputation for quality, custom cabinetry & furniture work in the Tampa Bay Area.

After incorporating in 1999, our small cabinet shop began taking shape. First, we installed brand new, top-of-the-line German and American made machinery like our prized Altendorf sliding table saw that is the heart of our shop and the Brandt edgebander—a finishing tool that is not only capable of creating beautiful veneers and finished edges but also protects furniture from moisture.

In 2004, we launched custom cabinet door production. As a part of this expansion, we installed a Bütfering wide belt sanding machine because we demand a flat, precise wood panel every time. Finally, to meet all custom cabinetry requirements, we installed a Stiles Unique 250 wood door machine that allows us to machine all necessary parts in assembling multi-piece wood doors.

Keeping with family tradition, in 2008, Javier Moreno Jr. began working alongside his father as General Manager of the company. Our core group of craftsmen have been together for almost ten years. We work with a small team that includes painting, finishing, countertop and stonework professionals. Our agile group allows us to maintain high quality standards, as well as offer our clients the personal attention they deserve.

No Job Too Small

We’ve had the pleasure of working with some of the most amazing homeowners and the best general contractors in the Tampa Bay Area. We’ve worked on projects ranging from:

  • custom hospital exam rooms designed to meet the requirements of leading doctors
  • complete dental offices needing to maximize space and function
  • multi-million dollar home designer kitchen cabinets
  • handcrafted fine furniture

There’s no job we can’t do.
